National chain Trader Joe’s opens in Prescott

Trader Joe’s will finally open Friday, March 9, at 8 a.m.

Trader Joe’s advertises itself as a “‘store of stories,’ meaning every item in the store has its own virtues — high quality ingredients, great flavor or simply an extraordinary price — many items often feature all of those qualities.”

A popular example is the so-called Two Buck Chuck, a type of wine priced at $1.99, which is cheaper than Walmart’s private-label brand, Oakleaf. Items at Trader Joe’s never go on sale, nor are there coupons — prices change only when the costs change.

The approximately 12,000 square-foot store was originally scheduled to open last October.

Trader Joe’s will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, and is located at 252 Lee Boulevard, by the shops at the Prescott Gateway Mall.
